The city of Kavala

Kavala (in ancient times "Neapolis") is a Macedonian city and the capital of the Kavala Regional Unit in Eastern Macedonia. The permanent population of the city amounts to 54,136 inhabitants, while the municipality has a total of 70,501 inhabitants. It is also the seat of the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos. It is built amphitheatrically at the foot of Mount Symvolos while access to the city is easy via the Egnatia Road, it is 650 kilometers from Athens and 153 kilometers from Thessaloniki.
